Who is She?

I am a photographer based in Kansas City with a passion for connecting with people and the documentary style.

What inspired me?

There’s two real answers to this question. My passion for photography began around the same time as my teen years. I wanted a way of expressing myself through art, in a way I didn’t have to explain. The photos did all the talking. High School gave me the resources and freedom to further explore different styles and techniques of photography. I studied 7 semesters of film, along with 3 years of yearbook staff as a photojournalist. The two classes were often conflicting, as one had to be creatively styled, and the other could not be posed. I have a strong appreciation for both styles, and it is reflected in the images I produce.

The other answer to this question stems from a curious Kate. Losing my father at two years old, I was left with no memory of him. I have pieced together who he was through stories and photographs that others have shared. Without a photo, I would have only my imagination of what my father looked like. It is important to me to not only capture the people we love, but to do so in a way that reflects who they are. Photos really do tell a story.
